With each post, we’ll highlight a rockstar team member of the Symba team. You’ll learn a lot about the people who make Symba, their journey so far, what their day looks like in their role at Symba, and much more.
Meet Zadok Taylor (He/They), who works as the Chief of Staff at Symba. Zadok has been with Symba since the beginning of the summer and works directly with Symba CEO, Ahva Sadeghi, to expand her capacity. They also support and improve team operations. Outside of work, Zadok enjoys soccer, gardening, and computer/video games! Come, let’s learn more about Zadok and their journey so far - professional and personal!
- What brought you to Symba and what’s been keeping you here?
The mission- I strongly believe in removing unnecessary social barriers, and the job market is rife with them. Our whole platform is designed to use win-win strategies and enable amazing internship experiences that turn interns into employees.
The team- It’s simply the best team I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. The talent is high, the egos are low, and they are each and every one a delightful human.
Remote work- I love the control over my schedule. Symba is extremely gracious in its flexibility, and the little ways I can skew my schedule have been extremely impactful in my ability to live the life I want.
- What does a day in the life of Zadok look like?
First, I get up and pour myself a cup of tea. Then I review emails and strategize on the projects for the day while listening to lo-fi hip-hop. After that, work time (listening to Bonobo)! I meet with Ahva to cover the day’s problems and strategize on our HR and Operational systems. Then a break at lunch time with my husband! Followed by more work time, this time listening to Final Fantasy soundtracks. To finish the day, I’ll make sure emails are answered and projects are wrapped up.
- Proudest moment at Symba?
Taking on and completing my first project for Symba - renewing our health insurance and guiding the team through open enrollment.
- How’s it like to be a ‘remote worker’ at Symba?
I love the control over my schedule, but I definitely need to remember to move more often 😅 Luckily, working a remote job makes it much easier to resist the temptation to eat out. I also love working and connecting with a team that is spread out across the country.
- What’s your personal mantra and why is it important?
“Remember, Parasaurolophus wouldn’t want this for me.”
It’s motivating, it makes you think about Parasaurolophus, and it reminds you that Parasaurolophus cares for you.
- Any advice for future Symbians?
Come in with curiosity, humility, and an eagerness to grow with the team. These traits will assure success!
